Buffalo says this is the last in the kaiju series, but I'm campaigning for a Gamera hat. She doesn't want to do it because she's never seen a Gamera movie. Time to crack open that sweet MST3K Gamera deluxe tin. Anyhoo, behold the majesty that is Mothra (singing tiny twins not included).
Here's another Buffalo miniature project: tiny dressmaker dummies with tiny dresses. Cute, ay?
The latest San Diego Book Arts project has a coronavirus theme. Each member made and sent out three books to three members and received three books from three other members. Sort of a coronavirus chain letter. Buffalo's "books" took the form of tiny coronavirus kits in little book-shaped boxes.
Remember the kaiju hat Buffalo finished a couple of months ago, Godzilla and King Ghidorah fighting on Mount Fuji? If not, scroll down to the previous blog post. Godzilla and Ghidorah account for one part of the MonsterVerse but we cannot forget the King. I am speaking of Kong, of course.
Lest you think King Kong and Godzilla belong in different universes, Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros. are in the midst of a shared universe franchise that includes both of them [films: Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), and the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)].
Buffalo's Kong is old school. Instead of fighting a Japanese kaiju, he takes out his aggression on the Empire State Building.
It has been ages since I blogged, but to be fair it's been a while since Buffalo made anything new. Now that she's been furloughed from her day job she's producing again. She has launched a new kaiju series of hats. It is still very much a work in progress, but I thought I'd share her work so far.
First up, the guy we all know and love, Godzilla (or Gojira, if you prefer).
After crocheting Godzilla, Buffalo went to work on King Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster.
I love his wings.
But what can these two behemoths fight over? My laptop?
Nah. Mount Fuji!
Yes, that is a hat. Her original plan was to attach the kaiju securely to the hat, but they are so much fun to play with that now she's thinking of making them removable. What do you think?
Stay tuned for more.
I've been watching the progress of this blouse for some time. Years, in fact. I blogged about it back in 2016, but at that time Buffalo had already been working on it for three years. It is finished at last, and it is glorious. Behold, the Mermaid Fashion Blouse.
The slideshow below includes closeups of the individual elements that make up the blouse.
Cinco de Mayo is just around the corner. Buffalo still has two of her California Sombreros™ and her limited edition Margarita cocktail hat available for sale. Click on the images below to go to the Etsy listings.
Easter is almost upon us. Whether you want a big floppy hat or something small and smart, Buffalo has you covered. I am particularly fond of the shepherdess hat with cheetah ears. So cute! Men's hats too.
For Buffalo (and Followers of Buffalo) there are three major holidays:
Valentine's Day is fast approaching, followed in a few months by Mother's Day. You are probably aware that Buffalo crochets flowers since they adorn many of her hats. Have you considered a custom raffia flower bouquet? Buffalo can make flowers of your choosing with some advance notice. If you want a custom bouquet for any occasion, contact Buffalo.
Note: I just noticed that the Etsy store 'Request Custom Order' and 'Contact shop owner' buttons on the main shop page are grayed out on chrome. This should not be the case. If you want to place a custom order, you can do it from specific listings, e.g. from here. I have custom orders enabled so I don't know why these buttons are inaccessible and the forums are currently read-only so I can't ask other shop owners. You can email Buffalo to explain what you want in a custom order but it's easier for her to do the sale through Etsy.
Note #2: I just checked the Etsy store with Firefox and Microsoft Edge browser and the custom order and contact buttons are enabled there. Not sure what the issue is, maybe my popup blocker is in the way? In any case, you can request custom orders through Etsy.
