Mardi Gras is February 13 - less than a month away. Buffalo has tons of merchandise that would be perfect for Mardi Gras celebrations: silly felt hats, needlelace masks, silly raffia hats, awesome raffia masks. Some favorites are pictured below. Click on the image to go directly to the shop listing.
Buffalo has been a busy bee since returning from camp. She's made several new hats and an adorable raffia mask. The non-sombrero hat style below is what Buffalo used to call the 'Lady Di Hat'. But so many guys like it, we've renamed it the 'Lord Dan/Lady Di Hat'. Click on the photos below to open a link to the Etsy store listing.
I did a little reorganizing today with the gallery pages. I created a new Masks page and moved the needlelace masks out from under the Lace page. I also created new galleries for raffia masks and fabric masks under the Masks header. I added shirts to the Shirt gallery and cartoons to the Cartoon gallery. These shirts and cartoons were previously featured in the blog but never migrated over to the gallery pages.
Buffalo drew some new cartoons recently, which I will hopefully scan and upload tomorrow. Watch this space.
Four days until Christmas. Have you finished your Christmas shopping? Don't panic, Buffalo's got you covered. Introducing...[fanfare]... Buffalo Hats gift certificates! How does it work? First contact Buffalo via email with your phone number and put "gift certificate" in the subject line. The transaction will require a phone conversation to work out the payment method, we are not setup for digital transactions on the website. Once payment is secured, Buffalo will email you a PDF certificate that you can resend to the lucky recipient. I created certificates in the following denominations: $50, $75, $100, $125, $150, $200. If you want some other amount, we can accommodate that. Certificates can be cashed in for existing Buffalo wares or new works, custom made. If the full value of the certificate is not exhausted, the recipient will be issued a new certificate for the balance or store credit.
Happy Merry [Christmas|Kwanzaa|Hanukkah|Festivus|Winter Solstice] everybody!
Halloween is 6 weeks off but you need to start thinking about it now for costuming purposes. Want something unique for Halloween? Buffalo's got you covered. Going through her current inventory, she has at least 20 hats that could be the centerpiece of an inspirational costume. Or you could go with one of her fabric or needlelace masks. One thing is certain: a Buffalo costume accessory will be entirely unique. You could be the only person at the Halloween party sporting a Roman legionnaire helmet styled like a lionfish.
If you want a custom order, you will have to place your order very soon. Buffalo has a day job through the end of October so her art creation time is limited.
Buffalo is back from her private catering gig and the stores are back open - or will be open once I get her to provide the password information to reactivate Stripe processing here in the buffalohats.com store. But the Etsy store is open now.
UPDATE: the buffalohats.com store is now open for business.
Good News/Bad News: Buffalo sold a lot of stuff while she was away, including the Pizza & Beer Hat, the Supreme Queen of the Fruitflies Hat, both Shepherdess Hats (cat and fox), the Cartwright Hat and three out of five party hats. Plus my favorite of the fabric masks: the Monster Mask. And another favorite hat of mine, the purple riding hat with veil. Those are all gone forever so if you were thinking of buying any of them, too late!
But I am sure there are many wonderful new hats just around the corner once Buffalo has had a few days of rest and relaxation. I will keep you posted.
A new Buffalo venture: fabric masks made out of machine lace. These are decorated with fabric paint and accented with beads and charms. These masks are less labor intensive than Buffalo's trademark needlelace masks, but they are pretty cute. Now available in the Etsy store.
Southern RenFaire opens this coming weekend, y'all, but if you were planning on going, consider the weekend of April 16-17. That's when Buffalo will be there. It is also:
Buffalo is planning on bringing everything she has in stock to the faire. That includes all the hats and masks in the store here and on Etsy. You can check out all the fabulousness in person if you are in the LA area next weekend. She's got some new stuff too, which we are not listing on Etsy until after the faire.
It's been a while since Buffalo had any masks for sale. She recently made three new needlelace masks plus several painted fabric masks. The three needlelace masks are available for sale on Etsy. She is still tinkering with the fabric masks and may add more doodads before putting them up for sale (my favorite is the Godzilla mask ;-)
I finally got the slide attachment to work with my scanner and scanned a bunch of old slides of Buffalo's work. These pieces date back decades. There were so many needlelace headpieces that I started a whole new gallery: headpieces. I also created a needlelace blouse gallery and parsed the remaining lace work into two more galleries: veils and other, which is mostly stuff from the original lace gallery. All of these plus masks can be found on gallery sub-menus under lace.
